Job Summary

The Product Designer/System Analyst role allows you to participate in a greenfield development effort to replace legacy systems. A somewhat rare occurrence in modern software development. Collaborate with designers, analysts, and testers to deliver high-performing high-quality software products in an agile setting. Day-to-day work involves partnering with product teams, architecture, technology leadership and stakeholders. You will be responsible for creating a future solution to develop products by applying knowledge of business processes and system architecture.

The role also has a strong leadership component and expects you to guide less-experienced developers and designers on implementations. You are expected to promote a healthy team culture by encouraging learning and challenging ideas. In this role, you will have a good understanding of the insurance processes and how to integrate Decision Models, Services and API calls into pre-packaged services from other technical areas. You’ll be a reliant self-starter with vision for how to create the needed integration for a product. You’ll require a thirst of knowledge and a passion for what you do.
You will also provide leadership in IT best practices, testing, problem resolution and change analysis. Key Responsibilities

  • Represents Product Transformation Business partners in creating a future product design.
  • Collaborates in the design of the high-level systems architecture for product solutioning effort.
  • Identifies systems integration patterns and potential technology risks
  • Understands the technical details, integration, and functions of multiple applications, hardware, and/or software within a team. Executes and enforces best practices.
  • Actively engages in story planning and estimation.
  • Implements high complexity stories and lead others on lower complexity stories.
  • Collaborates with other engineers, testers, and business experts to foster a high performing inclusive culture.
  • Leads the design of many software components.
  • Uses experience to challenge approaches but also makes reasonable compromises to achieve delivery objectives.
  • Uses analytical skills to diagnose support issues that may not be well understood initially.
  • Participates in all agile ceremonies with an iterative mindset including retrospectives to gather feedback and derive actionable items to improve the team and the product.
  • Participates in executing the strategy, keeping the customer needs and wants in mind.
  • Supports an environment of continuous learning through helping others and sharing expertise.
  • Make technical presentations to stakeholders and other leaders

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience

  • A college degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or similar field, including a solid understanding of Systems experience.
  • 7+ years of developing and implementing systems at scale preferably Insurance products.
  • Ability to distill and present technical information to stakeholders with the appropriate level of detail.
  • Experience of technical design and creating design artifacts.
  • Experience with Web, database, integration technologies, integrated testing.
  • Experience with Agile Methodology.
  • Experience of root cause analysis.
  • Individual must be a team player.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities given aggressive timelines; comfortable performing in a fast paced, dynamic and ambiguous business environment.
  • Ability to Apply extensive technology and business experience to identify and define strategic information technology needs across all major business functions in respective area of expertise

Compensation Data

Compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $155,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
