Job Description

Allstate is looking for Big Data & Analytics Cloud Platform Engineers within the ATSV Data & Intelligent Systems Group; at D&IS we are responsible and accountable for the engineering and operation of the Allstate big data and real time analytics platforms. In this role you will work with AWS using Agile/Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies to plan, test, and deploy cloud infrastructure using a variety of tools to support the enterprise analytics environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Big Data and Analytical teams to engineer and develop capabilities in the cloud that align with transformative growth business strategies and requirements.
  • Develop scalable, resilient and pragmatic solutions which meet technical, security, and business needs for applications and workloads.
  • Assist other teams across Allstate’s Data Management (D&IS) and Data Science (D3) with cloud’s fit for purpose analysis and migration of their on-premise workloads from a conceptual and technology standpoint.
  • Test and deploy cloud-based services to support real-time analytics workloads.
  • Develop and support multi-step CI/CD Infrastructure as Code pipelines for cloud environment.
  • Automate repeatable tasks to create efficiencies in our workflows and enable freedom for innovation.
  • Champion good engineering practices and help teams to define and set up frameworks for cloud adoption and consumption.
  • Contribute to technology strategy, engineering roadmaps, and proof of concept use cases.

Job Qualifications

Essential Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related area, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant level experience in infrastructure, analytics or solution design / architecture.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Amazon Web Services or similar cloud computing platform.
  • Experience in automating and creating automations in a cloud environment.
  • Hands-on style - willingness and competence in producing necessary changes in our infrastructure and processes Technical leadership and solution design.
  • Collaborative and customer-oriented track record, able to work effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and solutions.
  • Demonstrable ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Desired Certifications

  • AWS or Azure Certified Solutions Architect
  • AWS or Azure Certified SysOps Administrator

Desired Experience

  • Experienced in utilizing “infrastructure as code” approach to provisioning highly desirable.
  • Automation, Configuration Management (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Puppet), Dev-ops practices, CI/CD pipelines (e.g Jenkins).
  • Elementary networking skills, switching, routing, firewalls, load balancing.
  • Storage – NAS, SAN, JBOD, Object Storage.
  • Good understanding of Linux, preferably RHEL.
  • Development skills – Java, Scala, Python, PERL, Shell Script.
  • Big Data Technologies such as Hadoop, EMR, Spark, Impala, Kafka, etc.
  • Integration, Dataflow management, ETL.
  • Data Warehousing, SQL, Relational Databases.
  • NoSQL Databases.
  • Linux Containers / Docker.
  • Workflow scheduling and management.
  • DR and business continuity planning.

Minimum base salary $95K. Target bonus eligible. Offer will be commensurate with experience and could be significantly higher than the minimum.
